WP1 COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT
The objective of WP 1 is to guarantee the appropriate and timely implementation of the activities so that the consortium reaches the objectives of the project. Consequently, this WP provides overall coordination in the administrative and technical aspects of the project.

This WP is led by TNO.

 

WP2 HORTICULTURE
WP2 aims to develop technologies for efficient and safe use and re-use of water and nutrients in horticulture and in different food crops (especially strawberries and blackberries).

This WP is led by ADESVA.

 

WP3 FOOD PROCESSING
WP3 develops water treatment systems for resource efficient and safe food processing in order to minimize water and energy consumption and environmental footprint but also to reduce health and safety risk by eliminating the bacterial load from process water.

This WP is led by TNO.

 

WP4 BIOMASS
Each step of the agro-industrial fruit and vegetable processing industry, biomass by-products such as peels, seeds and unused flesh are produced. In WP4 the goal is to apply a cascade approach to these by-products by developing processes to extract bio-active and high value components and valorise the residues after extraction towards energy, organic fertilizer or nutrients.

WP5 DECONTAMINATION AND DISINFECTION
WP5 develops optimal combined processes with antimicrobial effectiveness on vegetables to mitigate the risk of food-borne illness and with minimum impact on environment and Sustainability. It requires to studying the influence of the presence of organic matter on the efficacy of the combined strategy and the influence of environmental factors of relevance and then to evaluate the effect of the decontamination technologies proposed.

WP6 MONITORING AND DETECTION
In WP6, the goal is to develop methodologies for rapid monitoring and detection of bacterial pathogens in recycled water. Plant and human pathogens are included in the target bacteria.

WP7 INTEGRATION AND ASSESSMENT
WP7 develops integrated concepts for resource efficient food production (horticulture) and food processing (fresh-cut vegetables and canning) to be tested at location at pilot/demo scale but also it provides an assessment of resource efficiency and environmental gains.

This WP is led by TNO.

 

WP8 PILOT TESTING
WP8 tests the developed integrated concepts for resource efficient horticulture, food processing and by-product valorisation concepts on pilot/demo scale at location. WP8 improves the technological solutions for water treatment measuring and monitoring and provides a final evaluation of the concepts developed.

WP9 DISSEMINATION, KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER AND EXPLOITATION
The main focus of this work package is on disseminating and raising awareness about the RESFOOD activities and results and transferring the knowledge collected and gained during the implementation of the project outside the project partners. The final objective of this work-package is the full utilization of the findings achieved during and after the end of the project, and the activation of tight relationship with all project stakeholders for further exploitation of project results.
